The ICBA Gala Dinner is our single biggest event, drawing 1,000 people to hear a unique selection of high-profile speakers, including NFL Hall of Fame quarterbacks Peyton Manning (2017), Brett Favre (2018), Troy Aikman (2019), Russell Wilson (2022), Terry Bradshaw and Joe Montana (2023), and Howie Long (2024).

To celebrate the 50th anniversary of ICBA’s founding, we welcome Super Bowl champions and New England Patriots legends Rob Gronkowski and Julian Edelman. These two are uproariously funny — be prepared to laugh!

The ICBA Gala celebrates open shop construction and the contribution ICBA’s 4,500+ member and client companies make to their communities and economy. Besides our keynote speakers, ICBA President Chris Gardner presents his ‘State of the Industry’, updating attendees on the success of the construction industry – and challenges ahead.

At the largest Red Seal graduation annual event in British Columbia, we honour our ICBA-sponsored apprentices who successfully completed their program in the past year with dinner and celebrations.

And special this year: we kick off ICBA’s 50th anniversary year by inducting three new life members into the Association, recognizing their contributions to ICBA and the construction industry. Plus learn how the ICBA Foundation will help apprentices in their trades journey build stronger futures.

Parking is free in the covered South Parkade across from the hotel’s main entrance.

What Happened and What’s Next?

Join us as Bob Rennie, founder of rennie, leads a conversation with CNN’s John King on what happened in the US Presidential election and its implications for the USA, Canada, and the world.

John King is CNN’s chief national correspondent and anchor of Inside Politics. He is an award-winning journalist who has covered the past eight presidential elections and reported from all 50 states and more than 70 countries. Most recently, King was a prominent part of CNN’s 2024 Election Night in America coverage offering insight and analysis throughout the evening.

ICBA’s presence at BUILDEX is always a must-see, with props, actors, and fun giveaways. In 2017, the booth was Star Wars-themed, and featured a live Jedi Knight, the evil Kylo Ren, and the beloved droid BB-8. A year later, ICBA had a construction Iron Throne built as part of our Game of Thrones theme. Jon Snow and Daenarys Targaryen took photos with the lords and ladies of the BUILDEX realm.

In 2020, just before COVID-19 shut down the world, Captain Marvel and Spider-Man hosted the booth and visitors tried out Avengers props like Thor’s hammer, Captain America’s shield, Hulk’s fists, and Thanos’ Infinity Gauntlet. In 2022, the Mandalorian and Baby Yoda greeted guests. In 2023, we built LEGO together.

This past year, we welcomed Deadpool and Wolverine at our booth.
