TRAINING THURSDAY: The Pain No One Talks About on the Job Site
Jordan and Kerry talk about ICBA’s latest featured course – and reminisce about past ICBA Galas.
Behind every building that goes up, every road that gets paved, every pipe that gets laid — there's a body absorbing the punishment.
Lifting. Bending. Twisting. Repeating. Day after day, year after year.
Chronic pain is one of the most common realities facing skilled tradespeople in BC — and one of the least talked about. It doesn't show up on a safety report. It doesn't trigger an incident investigation. It builds quietly, shift by shift, until it becomes impossible to ignore.
That's why ICBA Training is hosting a free one-hour session on April 14: Working Through Pain: What Every Tradesperson Should Know.
Led by James Boseley — Trades and Pain Lead with Pain BC, a counselling diploma graduate, and a man with 25 years of lived experience in oilfield, trucking, and equipment operation — this isn't a lecture from someone who read about it in a textbook. This is an honest conversation from someone who has been there.
The session will explore how years of repetitive motion, heavy lifting, awkward postures, and high-impact work take a cumulative toll on the body — and what workers, supervisors, and employers can do to start meaningful conversations about prevention and support.
Chronic pain doesn't just affect the individual. It affects productivity, morale, absenteeism, and the long-term sustainability of your workforce. Acknowledging it isn't soft. It's smart leadership.
This is a free, one-hour live online session. No credits, no certificates — just a candid conversation about something that matters to the people who build this province.
Register today and share it with the tradespeople on your team. The ones who've never said a word about the ache in their back or the grinding in their knees. This one's for them.
